Day 197: Monthly Dinner

A long-awaited "monthly" dinner with Randi was tonight. We met at the fab {and enormous!} Whole Foods on Park Ln. Yummy salads + good conversation + great friends = a perfect Wednesday night!

Day 196: i want.

i need.

i must have.

well, except without the $150 price tag.

Day 195: Dear Apartment

Please tear down this hideous, abandoned house that sits in the middle of our apartment complex property. Thankyouverymuch.

Day 194: Longest 2.2 Miles of My Life

Last night Kelly, Kara, and I went out and had a veeeeery fun night of dinner, drinks, and some serious dancing.

I drove at the beginning of the night and then we all cabbed it home. So this morning, I decided I'd jog to my car. Let's just say I've had better ideas in my life.

That was, by far, the longest freakin' 2.2 miles of my life. It was hot, I was hungover, and I felt like crying around mile 1.6. But I made it to my car. And proceeded to have the most ridiculously unproductive day of my life. Glorious.....

Day 193: About Time

I finally dragged my pale butt to the pool today and laid out with Kelly and Kara. Side note: Kelly's apartment pool is awesome! And the people watching is top notch :)

Day 192: Celebration

Tonight, Brian and I celebrated his "new" job with dinner at Perry's.

In photography class, we cut our own mattes, so I framed a photo I took on the Brooklyn Bridge as a gift for Brian's office {thanks for the idea, Kelly!}.

Day 191: Exhausted

Since I'm fully exhausted today, cuddling up on the couch with Zoe and watching trashy reality TV was definitely in order.

Side note: Did yall know there's a new season of Teen Mom on?! Love it.

Day 190: Leaving on a Jet Plane

I left on a jet plane today. And then came back on one tonight.

LOVE YOU, KEEKS!

Day 189: Goodbye

I have to say goodbye to this little one today, and I hate it! But I know she'll be in Brian's good hands until tomorrow night.....

Day 188: Hello

And happy Monday.

Day 187: Peach Cobbler

Tonight, I put good use to our Farmer's Market peaches and made a cobbler. I took this, along with copious amounts of steak and potatoes from my Omaha Steak delivery, to a friend's house. The guys grilled, the girls drank wine. Great night!

Day 186: Farmer's Market

I can't believe I've never been to the Dallas Farmer's Market! It's so close, and full of such great stuff. This morning, I dragged Brian out there, and although it was hot, we walked away with some great stuff. Here's the "dry" fruit. Pineapple, bananas, and peaches. Inside the fridge is the greatest looking spinach I've ever seen, the best-ever cherries, grapes, grape tomatoes, and fresh green beans. Such great food--and such great prices!

Day 185: Nordy's Gets Me Again

Today was the first day of Nordstrom's Annual Anniversary Sale. And as always, I went straight from work to Nordstroms. And they got me again. Per usual.

I walked away with a pair of silver/black Tory Burch flats, an a-ma-zing pair of Steven by Steve Madden distressed leather boots (not pictured as they have to be shipped to me), some Paige "Jeggings" (jean leggings. fab.), a white NorthFace fleece, a black leather jacket, and a boyfriend cardi.

NOW, I just need to know one thing: Do apartments make you pay rent after the Nordstrom's sale? I'm going with no. Guess we'll see......

Day 184: Something Different

I decided to try something different for dinner tonight, and made one of the Pioneer Woman's shrimp recipes. Delish! Pretty sure if I could be anyone, it would be the PW. Loves her.

Zoe cleaned up afterward. She's so thoughtful like that.

Day 183: Captivation

I took my little sis ice skating today downtown. She seriously loved it. But what held her captivation more than I have ever seen? The zamboni. She stared in amazement while eating her McDonald's (which, by the way, has the calories on the wrapper now. crazy). Dynaya even clapped when the zamboni was done. Ah, to be young again.

Day 182: LC + JMs

Today was a day of favorites. Met up with my fave former coworker, Shelley, at one of my fave lunch spots Jersey Mike's (JMs. Duh.). And, of course, Shelley brought my fave 3-month-old, Caroline (aka LC in the Hicks household).

HOW FREAKING CUTE IS SHE?! P.S. She's wearing a tutu. Are you kidding me with how precious she is? I die. Loves. Seriously loves!

Day 181: 107

In my car. Awesome. What? Buying a black car with black interior was totally smart. Don't judge me.

Day 180: Home

After a detour through College Station, I'm finally home. I'm exhausted. Zoe's sick. And throwing up. Brian had to go to work. At 6pm on a Sunday. Fun times! This is Brian heading into work. I don't just usually take photos of this sort of thing, because I'm honestly not that weird. It's for my photography class assignment due tomorrow.....

Day 179: Bridal Extravagaaaanza

Keeks and I headed to downtown Houston today for the Bridal Extravaganza. She was on the hunt for a DJ, string quarter, and cake ideas, and entering as many giveaways as possible. We were definitely exhausted after our time there, but I'd say it was a successful day for Keeks....

Day 178: Southbound 45

I headed south on I-45 today to spend the weekend with Keeks in Spring. Tomorrow is a full day of bride-to-be fun!

Day 177: Twisted Root

Finally made it to Twisted Root for the hamburgers I hear so much about. My fave part was that they give everyone a celebrity's name, which is the name they call when your order is ready. Mine was Jackie Kennedy, and I was a little bit too excited about that one :) I do love me some Jackie O! But seriously--who doesn't?!

Day 176: Oh That?

Oh that enormous styrofoam cooler sitting on my kitchen floor?

That would be an order from Omaha Steaks, courtesy of my mom. Why did she send me {and my sister} each a huge cooler of food? Not sure. Although it's certainly not unsurprising behavior from my hilarious Greek mama ;)

So what's inside this bad boy? Just 10 ground beef burgers, 4 boneless pork loin chops, 4 filet mignons, 4 beef top sirloin steaks, 10 gourmet hot dogs, 4 stuffed baked potatoes, and 10 potatoes au gratin. Ya know, the typical freezer contents of an unmarried woman with no kids or roommates.

I was SO excited when this years worth of food fit absolutely perfectly in my freezer! I was so proud of myself.

And then I turned around. And there was one more box left in the cooler. Cue sad face. It still fit, but it's just not as pretty anymore. Oh well!

Anyone want to come over for some steaks and potatoes? Dinner's on me :)

Day 175: It's That Time!

Look at this little beauty that showed up in my mailbox today:

That only means one thing: It's Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale time! Also known as one of my fave times of the year. If past years are any indication of what my behavior will be like this year, I will go through this little catalogue about 37 times until I've picked out everything I want.

The only thing that would make this better would be if Shelley was still working with me! The Nordstrom's sale will just not be the same this year without me running every item past Shelley first :(

Day 174: The Star of My Photog Assignments

Is obviously Zoe. I hope I'm not the weird student who seems oddly obsessed with her dog. I mean, I am that student. I just don't want people to realize it...yet...

Day 173: Happy 4th of July!!

Brian and I took some wine up to his roof to watch the fireworks tonight. It was cool to see the fireworks in all different parts of Dallas, not to mention the weather was actually perfect! Happy 4th of July!!

Day 172: Couch Shopping

Today was spent shop couching for Brian. All day. We finally found a great couch, although I absolutely despised our salesman {seriously worse than a used car salesman}.

I did discover one perk of couch shopping: the massage chairs. Fab-u-lous.

Day 171: Downtown

I walked around downtown this evening to take some photos for my next photography class....

Day 170: Latest Obsession

One of Brian's all-time favorite shows {after Seinfeld, of course} is West Wing. This show came out when I was in high school, and political shows weren't exactly in my nightly lineup {I was all about Dawson's Creek and Felicity. Ya know, good shows like that...}.

But after listening to Brian go on and on about how good the show is, I finally caved and we started watching the series from the beginning. And I.am.obsessed. Seriously, it is so good! I mean, it's completely idealistic; thus, totally unrealistic. And a little too left-wing for me. But I love it. Brian and I have been known to watch four or five episodes in one day!
