Day 289: SWA Halloween

I am not a fan of Halloween, and I haven't been since I was a kid. I think it's the pressure of coming up with a costume. And truthfully, I've never been able to top my third grade costume when I went as Wednesday Adams and won first prize in the Steven Boyd Dance Company Halloween Costume Contest. That.was.awesome.

So while the rest of the Company is running around in costumes, watching the skits, and having fun, I'm working. With a bowl of candy on my desk. Not that anybody actually brings their kids to Flight Ops--the non-fun group of the Company. But just in case, I'm ready!

Day 288: Changes + Rangers

Yesterday, I abruptly changed my mind about The City Club. I took my dad to see it, and just suddenly realized it was not the venue for me. I'm just glad I realized it now and not during the tasting when it's too late!

So, today Brian and I toured The Adolphus again {he didn't go the first time, although we've both been there for other events before}. We both love it! I really truly think this is the one. Of course, no decision has been made yet........

After The Adolphus, we headed to a bar to watch Game 2 of the World Series. Sadly, the Rangers lost again. Really, really badly actually.

Day 287: Go Rangers!

The Rangers are in the World Series for the first time--ever. I first to TABC with friends and then the Loon with Brian to watch it. Unfortunately, things went downhill quickly, and the Rangers lost :(

Day 286: BOA

I saw this while driving tonight. That green light glowing in the background is the Bank of America building, which houses The City Club. Starting to think it'd be really cool to get married there! Love how you can always spot the BOA building!

Day 285: Wedding Failure

I experienced my first wedding failure today. This bad boy arrived in the mail, and I had big intentions for it! Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the hideous chili peppers actually stood off the statue (and weren't just painted on), so it looks like it's getting shipped back. Don't you worry, I'll find the perfect dachshund statue soon, and you'll see it in all its glory at my wedding!

Day 284: Keeks' Shower

Yay for Keeks and her upcoming wedding! Loved spending the day at her very first wedding shower--and taking this fab action shot. She has quite the large family, so I think it was definitely the largest family wedding shower I've ever been to! The food was delicious, and Keeks looked beautiful in her dress! Can't wait until the wedding in January :)

Day 283: Football

Today, Keeks woke me up at 8a.m. to tell me we were going to her nephew's football game. Um, seriously? He's 7. So this morning was spent at my first-ever peewee football game {is that still what it's called??}. And let me tell you, these parents are intense! Cow bells, football ribbon in their hair, cheering, yelling. I felt like I was at a college game! Well, except for the fact that nobody scored. Ever. Oh well--they sure are adorable in their uniforms!! And really--isn't that all that matters?

Day 282: SURPRISE!

I flew to Houston today and am spending the weekend in Spring. Sunday is my best friend's first wedding shower, and I'm so excited! But tonight, the weekend was kicked off with a surprise birthday party for Lynette, Keeks' mom. She was definitely surprised! Her face was classic!

Day 281: The City Club

Reception Tour #5 took me to The City Club, which is on the 69th floor of the Bank of America building downtown. I really, truly loved the concept of it--floor-to-ceiling windows on the top floor of the tallest building in downtown Dallas. Brian has some doubts, but I thought it was great! Guess it's now in the running, along with The Adolphus!

{This fun statue is just outside the building, and it's where the bride and groom have their exit. Great photos online!}

Day 280: Wedding Website!

One thing I've always known that I want to do for my wedding is create a wedding website. I started it tonight, and I'm loving it so far! It's more labor-intensive than I originally thought it would be, but I think it'll be a great resource for guest information {including ceremony/reception addresses, accommodation ideas, gift registry, and more}. This is really happening!!

Day 279: Warwick Melrose

Today was reception tour #4 at the Warwick Melrose Hotel in Dallas. It was beautiful. They had some great features, and I loved their onsite wedding coordinator. Unfortunately, it was just too small. *Sigh* Guess it's on to the next....again.....

Day 278:Photography

I love taking pictures. But taking portraits all day? Not.Fun. This is what I stared at for the majority of the day as I took pictures of Check Airmen.

Is it funny the first time someone asks if I can make them look thinner/younger/less gray? Yes. Is it funny the 873rd time? Not so much.

Day 277: Registering!

Brian and I had our first registering experience today. It started out as so.much.fun. Picking out gifts I want--but don't have to pay for? Um, yes please! It quickly went downhill when I realized how much I have to think about, how hungry I was, and how suddenly heavy my purse felt. So, to the interwebs I go. Registering online sounds much more pleasant :)

Day 276: BTHO Mizzou!

Brian and I went down to College Station today, to watch A&M BTHO Mizzou. Unfortunately {for me, Kelly, and Joey}, that did not happen. Mr. Mizzou Alumni--aka Brian--was pleased, though. Kelly threatened him that if he said one word, he'd be walking home. His gloating was, therefore, kept to a minimum.

Day 275: The Stoneleigh

After I flew back from Houston, I got a hair cut and then headed to The Stoneleigh Hotel for a reception tour. NOT IMPRESSED. The hotel itself is beautiful. Loved the chandeliers everywhere, the lobby, the many places for photo ops......but NOT the reception venue space. Basically, where they have wedding receptions is in the penthouse--where the original owner of the hotel used to live. And they've kept it just like an apartment penthouse. So there's a living room, dining room, entryway, etc. Not my style for a wedding reception. I'd hate to have everybody so split up! Oh well.....on to the next one.

Day 274: Houston Bound

I flew to Houston today for the HOU Pilot Roundtable discussion. At the end of the night, we took the fun Pilot talk to the bar. Love how the waiter had to write our mixers on the napkins. Apparently it's quite easy to forget in the three steps from the bar to our table....

Day 273: Lunch with the Girls!

Kelly, Caroline, and I have begun eating lunch together once a week in The Landing. I love this time together to catch up, talk, and relax!

Day 272: The Adolphus

I toured a possible reception venue today--The Adolphus Hotel. It's classic, it's beautiful, and the wedding coordinator is great. Not sure yet if it's the place for me, but it's definitely in the running!
Here are the standard chairs and linens with the room set up for an event. I seriously never thought I'd be a "chair snob", and that I wouldn't waste my money on upgraded chairs. But I'm definitely reconsidering that. I mean, really. Why don't these places just invest in pretty chairs?!

Day 271: New Friends

I've recently made a group of random new friends, and we get together about once a week for happy hour and snacks. Loving the nice weather--perfect for patio sitting (and, of course, people watching!).
And side note: Yeah, that's a horrible photo. Apparently it was a little dark out?? That would be our drinks.......

Day 270: Weddings on our Minds

Well not weddings, just one really. Mine. My mom is still in town from dress shopping this weekend, and we spent a lot of the day shopping for wedding-related items and reading a stack of these. Love me some wedding magazines!

Day 269: Dress Shopping!

Today, my mom, sister, and I went dress shopping. Three stores in one day, and I got my dress! I LOVE IT! It's exactly what I wanted, and I was very proud of myself for sticking to my budget! I don't want to post a picture of the whole dress, so I'll show you just the tiniest snippet of the dress from the website :)

Day 268: Newest Obsession

Lately, I have become oddly obsessed with Criminal Minds reruns on ION. I mean, it's starting to get a little sad {and sick--have you ever seen that show?!}. It's like a train wreck--I can't look away!

Day 267: Darn You, Belo!

I had my first reception tour tonight at Belo Mansion. And it did not go well. Let's just say that their Catering Manager leaves a lot to be desired. Basically, big lack of communication, and it's not even available on May 7. Agh. Thanks for making me waste an hour {and a quarter in the meter!}

Day 266: i want her. i must have her.

i met the one tonight.

the one who shall be my photographer.

i love her. and i must have her. eeeeek!!!!

Day 265: Gatorade

Brian brought me supplies, since I'm still practically dying {and still overly dramatic}. Think he got enough Gatorade?

Day 264: Sick

I'm on death's door today. {And yes, being very overly dramatic.....}

Day 263: Crafting

Worked on a little somethin' somethin' today. But I can't give it fully away just yet!

Day 262: First Wedding Gift

We got out first wedding gift today--a silver serving tray from Brian's mom!

Day 261: Miller Madness

We went to Miller Madness tonight, an annually fundraiser. Guess who was there.....VIENNA! She apparently hung around Dallas after she dumped Jake. Who knew?

Day 260: Photog Search

Met with my first photographer tonight. I liked her. Her photos are great, but.....I'm still waiting on my fave to call me back. We'll see! {Side note: It took TWO HOURS. wtf? I don't have this kind of time, people!}

Day 259: Jakes

Being in walking distance to Jake's is a good thing. And a very bad thing.

Day 258: Meetup!

One of my friends from photography class started a communicators/PR Meetup group, and tonight was the first happy hour. Kelly and I went, enjoyed the wine, and had a great time!

Day 257: Ideas

Sometimes I get an idea. And I go with it before fully thinking it through. Like today. I was meeting a potential wedding planner at a nearby Starbucks. I didn't have time to workout this morning, so I had the idea that I would just walk there and back. So I grabbed my stuff and started walking. And then I remembered, about halfway there, that it's about 1.5 miles there and 1.5 miles back. That's about an hour of walking. I didn't really think that through on this fine Monday evening......

Day 256: Airports

No me gusta airports. Especially when I'm nonreving and hoping, praying I make the flight. Ah, the stress! {Luckily, I did make this flight home--the last seat, because they 10-minute ruled somebody. Eek!}

Day 255: Sums it Up

Suffice it to say, we had QUITE the adventure today. I like to think of our time in Seattle as the planes, trains, and automobile tour of the city. Let's just say this face from my beautiful sister {which was taken while we sat in the lobby of a hotel--not our hotel. long story} just about sums up the day!

Day 254: Seattle!

My sister and I landed in beautiful Seattle today! Ready for our girl's weekend adventure :)

Day 253: Camera Bag - Here We Go!

Me, and my adorable new camera bag, are off for Seattle bright and early tomorrow morning!

Day 252: Vino 100

Vino 100 = THE BEST happy hour deal. Seriously, 50% off every wine by the glass until 7p.m.! And their cheese plate? To.Die.For. Just sayin'.

But the absolute best part? I can walk there from my apartment.

Day 251: I'm Dumb

I keep chocolate on my desk at work--the same bag of mini chocolate bars, every time. But when I went to dump today's bag in, I realized that there wasn't a single bar of Twix! For some reason {most likely because I'm dumb} I got very upset. So I emailed a complaint. With a picture of the bag that clearly states that Twix should be in the bag. As I said....I'm dumb.
